STILL LIFE vase

A few years ago, I visited Gallerie d’Italia in Naples. In one of the rooms, I came across a series of still life paintings by Baldassarre de Caro. I was drawn to them. The paintings felt so alive, almost as if the flowers were stepping out of the paintings and into the room. It inspired me to translate that feeling into a product.

The result is a wall-mounted vase framed like a painting. The flowers become the artwork, and the composition can change depending on what you put in it.

De Caro’s paintings preserve the flowers at a particular moment in time. With the vase, the composition keeps changing as the flowers open, change colour and take on new forms. Different flowers can be used throughout the year, allowing the piece to change with the seasons.
